Welcome to Post #71 of the American Legion located at 107 North Broadway, Urbana, Illinois! This site was created so our members can easily access important information about our Post as well as the National Organization. Most importantly, though, these pages are created for everyone with a love for God and Country.
Your Urbana Post is very involved in the community. Our Breakfasts, on the first Sunday of the month raise funds to support Camp New Hope, Special Olympics, send packages to our troops overseas, help provide support for American Legion Baseball, provide funds for the Gifts for Yanks Who Gave Program and many other local programs. We also have an active Auxiliary Unit and Sons of the American Legion Squadron.
Urbana Post 71 received an award for 4th in the state in contributions to the Gifts to the Yanks Who Gave program. Auxiliary Unit 71 received an Excellence Plaque from Department National Security program for their care package program for troops overseas.
On September 14, 2009 the 33rd BCT from Illinois National Guard returned home from a year in Afghanistan. Welcome back and thank you for your service and sacrifice.
