Welcome to Post #71 of the American Legion located at 107 North Broadway, Urbana, Illinois! This site was created so our members can easily access important information about our Post as well as the National Organization. Most importantly, though, these pages are created for everyone with a love for God and Country.
Your Urbana Post is very involved in the community. Our Breakfasts, on the first Sunday of the month raise funds to support Camp New Hope, Special Olympics, send packages to our troops overseas, help provide support for American Legion Baseball, provide funds for the Gifts for Yanks Who Gave Program and many other local programs. We also have an active Auxiliary Unit and Sons of the American Legion Squadron.
Urbana Post 71 attended Special Olympics in Bloomington Normal on June 14, 2008 with 23 volunteers to assist with food and beverages for the athletes and their families. Post 71 donated $1,860.00 in food and $1,200 to the Department of Illinois Special Olympics program.
July 4th, our Independence Day, will soon be upon us. Please take time out to remember those who have sacrificed for our freedom. Take time to thank a vet. If you find yourself in Champaign-Urbana on the 4th, National Commander Marty Conatser will be the Grand Marshall of the Freedom Parade.
Congratulations to our National Commander Marty Conatser, from Champaign, Illinois and our Department Commander Myron Kirby, from Farmer City, Illinois. We wish them a great year.
